İbrahim Sarı, Chairman of the Board of Nizip Commodity Exchange, announced that Gaziantep reached the highest export figure in its history on an annual basis with 6 billion 939 million 32 thousand dollars of exports in 2018. Stating that exports were made to 180 countries from Gaziantep in December, President Sarı said, "I congratulate our industrialists and business world who made Gaziantep feel proud, and I thank everyone who contributed to reaching these figures."
Reminding that Turkey's total exports broke a record by reaching 168.1 billion dollars as of 2018, Sarı noted that Gaziantep, the locomotive city of industry and exports, also contributed significantly to breaking this record and broke a new record with its success in exports in a difficult period.
He stated that according to the figures announced by the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), Gaziantep's exports, which were 6 billion 571 million 316 thousand dollars in 2017, reached a total of 6 billion 939 million 32 thousand dollars in 2018, with an increase of 5.6 percent. Announcing that 585 million 448 thousand dollars of exports were made in December, Mayor Sarı said that Gaziantep ranked 6th after Ankara among the provinces with the highest exports in December.
Expressing his satisfaction with the increase in exports in 2018 compared to 2017 despite global and regional negativities, İbrahim Sarı said, "It is admirable that this success was achieved despite the extreme fluctuations in exchange rates and foreign exchange, especially starting from August. We continued to work and produce without ever falling into despair. From now on, we will continue on our way with the same understanding."
