Chamber and commodity exchange presidents, led by TOBB President M. Rıfat Hisarcıklıoğlu, visited Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım and held a consultation. Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “As merchants, industrialists and producers of our country, we are determined to continue our journey without any interruption for a stronger economy.”
Speaking at the consultation meeting held at the Prime Ministry and attended by Nizip Commodity Exchange Chairman İbrahim Sarı, TOBB President M. Rıfat Hisarcıklıoğlu thanked Prime Minister Yıldırım for his work on strengthening the real sector and increasing competitiveness. Stating that the importance given to consultation has increased the enthusiasm of the business world, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, "We believe that now, under your leadership, our government will focus on the economy and start a new leap in the field of growth and reform. In this context, we are doing our part, we will do it."
Stating that the chambers and commodity exchanges were honorable soldiers of the anti-junta struggle in their provinces and districts from the first moment of the coup attempt, Hisarcıklıoğlu reminded that the community also lost a martyr in this process.
TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu said: "We are the professional organization that first reacted to the emergence of this coup attempt originating from FETO. We immediately announced our stance in favor of democracy and national will to the whole country on the internet and on TV.
In order to protect democracy, we sent SMS messages to 85 thousand people, including council members and professional committee members of our Chambers and Commodity Exchanges in 81 provinces and 160 districts. The next day, on July 16, we went to our Gazi Assembly. We paid condolence visits to our Parliament Speaker and political parties.
By attending the historic session in the parliament, we showed once again that we, as the Turkish business world, are in favor of democracy.
On July 19, together with our 365 Chambers and Commodity Exchanges, we showed our reaction against the coup simultaneously in 81 provinces and 160 districts. We said, 'Democracy is our indispensable, our national willpower, our brotherhood is our future.'
On July 20, we visited the Turkish Grand National Assembly once again with 538 NGO representatives. We declared our "Commitment to Democracy" declaration. We contacted all our interlocutors abroad. We informed them that our democracy and economy are intact and that they should not have any concerns about Turkey. On the other hand, as the Chamber-Commodity Exchange community, we supported the state of emergency decision taken to protect public order and ensure the effective functioning of services. Because it is a requirement of being a nation that we all help our state in this difficult period.
We are announcing the solidarity campaign for martyrs and veterans initiated by our state throughout the country, and we are making a significant contribution as the TOBB-Chamber-Commodity Exchange community. “Our Chambers and Commodity Exchanges participate in our people's democracy watches in each city and provide food and similar support.”
- “We defended democracy and the ballot box”
Stating that they, as a community, supported democracy and the ballot box, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, "I am proud of these friends of mine who stood against the coup and stood by the national will from the first moment. From now on, we will be next to our State and at the disposal of our nation. We will work to make this country, this nation richer. We will work for more investment, employment and exports. With your support, we will place our country among the 10 largest economies in the world." "As TOBB and the Chamber-Exchange Community, we will continue to support democracy, our nation and our state tomorrow, as we did yesterday. We believe that we will achieve a safer country and a safer economy together in a short time. Our duty in this process is to be loyal to the nation and the state. We will stand against those who are enemies of the unity of our country, our brotherhood and our democracy."
